APD is an education and hiring technology company that uses Autonomous Learning and Artificial Intelligence analytics to solve significant problems affecting professionals, students, teachers, academic administrators, and companies.

The current education and hiring ecosystems are ineffective and don't provide professionals with the required knowledge and skills for the demanding job market. Also, employers waste significant resources when hiring the right candidate.

APD created innovative platforms to empower professionals with essential knowledge and skills, increase their competence and confidence, and help them get their desired jobs. Our methods minimize the time and effort required to learn, train, and find an appropriate job or the right candidate. Our tools significantly increase the precision of matching professionals with their desired jobs and employers with the best candidates.

APD received several awards in the learning analytics domain, including the 2019 H. Robert Schroeder Best Paper Award at the IEEE Integrated STEM Education Conference at Princeton University.

Our Journey

Our foundational work began in 2014 at the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering (now the NYU Tandon School of Engineering). This journey was spearheaded by Behzad Tabaei's pivotal master's thesis, titled "Rapid Measurement of Innovation Knowledge and Skills," under the guidance of advisor Dr. Joseph Nadan.

Unveiling the Innovation Knowledge Gap

The core of this initial research was a deep dive into Innovation Science, the systematic study of how successful innovation occurs. The findings were revelatory, identifying a significant and consequential competency gap: the profound difference between what individuals perceive they know about innovation methodologies and what they actually know and can effectively apply. This insight demonstrated a critical need for a reliable, objective tool to measure and address this knowledge disparity.

From Thesis to Tool: The Birth of APD and RAIKS

Building upon the robust foundation of this academic work, the concept was rapidly expanded and transitioned from theory to application. With collaboration from other NYU faculty and a dedicated team of developers, the methodology was refined and engineered into a practical solution. This collaborative effort culminated in the official establishment of the company, APD, and the launch of its flagship software, RAIKS (Rapid Assessment of Innovation Knowledge and Skills), in 2016. This marked the transition of a rigorous academic finding into a scalable platform designed to precisely benchmark, quantify, and ultimately enhance innovation capabilities across organizations.
